Dazu geh\u00f6ren die Umgestaltung der Energiesysteme, die Anpassung wirtschaftlicher Modelle und die Ver\u00e4nderung von Lebensstilen. Die Europ\u00e4ische Union hat sich das Ziel gesetzt, bis 2050 Klimaneutralit\u00e4t zu erreichen. Sie strebt an, der erste klimaneutrale Kontinent der Welt zu werden. Zudem will sie bis 2030 die Netto-Treibhausgasemissionen um mindestens 55 Prozent gegen\u00fcber dem Niveau von 1990 senken \u2013 jenem Jahr, in dem die EU ihren Emissionsh\u00f6chststand erreichte. China hat angek\u00fcndigt, Klimaneutralit\u00e4t vor 2060 zu erreichen. Zugleich hat es zugesagt, dass seine Kohlendioxidemissionen vor 2030 ihren H\u00f6chststand erreichen. Damit wird ein fr\u00fcherer Meilenstein auf dem Weg zur Klimaneutralit\u00e4t gesetzt. \u201eCarbon\u201c-Reduktionsl\u00f6sungen sind l\u00e4ngst nicht mehr nur Thema f\u00fcr Wissenschaft und Politik \u2013 sie betreffen heute Fachleute aus allen Branchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-carbon-neutrality\">Was bedeutet Klimaneutralit\u00e4t?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Klimaneutralit\u00e4t bedeutet, Kohlenstoffemissionen mit der Aufnahme von Kohlenstoff in nat\u00fcrliche oder technologische Senken auszugleichen. Dies erfordert entweder eine direkte Reduktion der Emissionen oder deren Ausgleich durch Kompensationen an anderer Stelle. Zu den Methoden geh\u00f6ren der Einsatz erneuerbarer Energien, die Verbesserung der Energieeffizienz oder die Kohlenstoffsequestrierung. Nat\u00fcrliche Senken \u2013 W\u00e4lder, B\u00f6den und Ozeane \u2013 bleiben dabei die wirksamsten Speicher, da k\u00fcnstliche Technologien bislang nicht in ausreichendem Ma\u00dfstab verf\u00fcgbar sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-buildings-matter\">Warum sind Geb\u00e4ude entscheidend?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Was also haben Geb\u00e4ude mit Klimaneutralit\u00e4t zu tun? Eine ganze Menge. Weltweit sind Geb\u00e4ude f\u00fcr rund 40 % des Energieverbrauchs und etwa 30 % der CO\u2082-Emissionen verantwortlich. Sie geh\u00f6ren damit zu den gr\u00f6\u00dften Einzelverursachern des Klimawandels.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diese Auswirkungen zeigen sich in zwei Formen:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verk\u00f6rperter Kohlenstoff (Embodied Carbon): die Emissionen, die bei der Herstellung und dem Transport von Materialien wie Beton, Stahl und Glas entstehen. Diese Emissionen sind bereits \u201eeingeschlossen\u201c, noch bevor ein Geb\u00e4ude genutzt wird.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Betrieblicher Kohlenstoff (Operational Carbon): die Energie, die f\u00fcr Heizung, K\u00fchlung, Beleuchtung und den Betrieb von Geb\u00e4uden \u00fcber deren gesamte Lebensdauer hinweg ben\u00f6tigt wird.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Da Geb\u00e4ude langlebige Verm\u00f6genswerte sind, pr\u00e4gen die heute getroffenen Entscheidungen die Emissionen \u00fcber Jahrzehnte hinweg. Ein Bauwerk, das 2025 geplant und errichtet wird, k\u00f6nnte noch im n\u00e4chsten Jahrhundert bestehen. Es wird Energie verbrauchen und den CO\u2082-Fu\u00dfabdruck der Stadt beeinflussen. Gleichzeitig bedeutet dies, dass Geb\u00e4ude eine gro\u00dfe Chance darstellen: Durch effiziente Planung, die Integration erneuerbarer Energien und den Einsatz nachhaltiger Materialien lassen sich ihre Emissionen drastisch reduzieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Gro\u00dfteil unseres Geb\u00e4udebestands existiert bereits \u2013 und gerade in diesen Geb\u00e4uden liegt das gr\u00f6\u00dfte Potenzial.
